How to Install TWRP Recovery and Root Google Pixel

Google launched Pixel smartphone in October 2016 as a flagship Android smartphone.Google Pixel comes with Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 5.0 inches 1080p display.This smartphone has 12.3 MP camera at back and 8 MP shooter at the front for selfies.Pixel is also the first smartphone to support Daydream VR.Google Pixel is running on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.Nougat is the latest version of Android with many new features and improvements over Marshmallow.Stock ROM of Google Pixel is great but there are some times when you want to tweak it according to your need.You will not be able to tweak your Pixel more deeply without granting root access and flashing a custom recovery.

  2. Downloads both installer .zip and fastboot .img TWRP files from this link.

How to install TWRP on Google Pixel

  1. Make sure that bootloader of your Pixel is unlocked.
  2. Install the USB driver and setup the Minimal ADB and Fastboot on your computer.
  3. Download the .zip and .img files for TWRP from given link.
  4. Move the TWRP ZIP file into the internal storage of your Pixel.
  5. Power off your smartphone and boot into bootloader mode by pressing Volume down and Power button together.
  6. Connect your Pixel to your computer using a data cable.
  7. Open the folder where you install the Fastboot and ADB setup.
  8. Move the IMG file of TWRP into that folder.
  9. Press Shift+Right click on empty space in the folder.
  10. Select Open command window here to open Fastboot and ADB command window.
  11. In command window type “fastboot boot TWRP-IMG-File-Name.img”.Change TWRP-IMG-File-Name with the name of TWRP IMG file.
  12. This will temporarily boot your Pixel into TWRP recovery.
  13. Tap on Install button in TWRP recovery.
  14. Select ZIP file of TWRP recovery.
  15. Swipe to confirm the flashing process.

How to Root Google pixel with TWRP

  1. Move the file into the internal storage of your Pixel.
  2. Enter your smartphone into TWRP recovery mode by giving the “fastboot boot recovery” command.
  3. In TWRP recovery tap on Install button.
  4. Select the file.
  5. Swipe to confirm the flashing process.
  6. Once the flashing process is completed reboot your smartphone normally.
