How to install TWRP Recovery on Moto G5 Plus

  1. Setup ADB and Fastboot on your computer.
  2. Unlock the bootloader of your Motorola smartphone.
  3. Go to Settings>>Developer options and tick USB Debugging option.
  4. Connect your smartphone to your computer using a data cable.
  5. Unzip the TWRP Recovery file and get the image file.
  6. Move the TWRP-Recovery.img file into the folder where you setup ADB and Fastboot.
  7. Rename TWRP Recovery file as recovery.img.
  8. Press Shift+Right click on empty space and select Open command window here to open ADB and Fastboot command prompt.
  9. In command prompt type “adb reboot bootloader” to boot into download mode.
  10. Once the smartphone boot up into download mode type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img” to flash TWRP Recovery.

How to Root Moto G5 Plus

  1. Move the Magisk and no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip file into the internal storage of your smartphone.
  2. Power off and boot into recovery by pressing and holding Volume up and Power button together and selecting recovery option.
  3. Cancel the “Swipe to Allow Modification” and go to wipe and “Swipe to Factory Reset” your smartphone.
  4. Go to Reboot and reboot into recovery without selecting the install option.
  5. This time Swipe to Allow Modification.
  6. Go to Install and select no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip.
  7. Swipe to install the file.
  8. Go back to reboot and reboot into System.
  9. Go back to recovery and flash Magisk tool using the given guide in the download link.

    After flashing TWRP, and rebooting the phone: I power off and press Power Button + Volume UP only to get the caution screen which says, “Your device has been unlocked and can’t be trusted. To learn more visit: – some url – Your device is booting now…”

    I cannot boot into recovery. What do I do?
