Root Pixel 2 and Flash TWRP Recovery on Android Pie

How to flash TWRP Recovery on Pixel 2

  1. Install ADB and Fastboot on your computer and unlock the bootloader of your Pixel 2.
  2. Go to Settings>>About and tap on Build number 7 times to enable Developer options.
  3. Go to Settings>>Developer options and tick USB Debugging and OEM unlock.
  4. Connect your smartphone to your computer using a data cable.
  5. Move the Magisk-root-file into the internal storage of your smartphone.
  6. Move the TWRP-Recovery.img file into the folder where you setup the ADB and Fastboot and rename it as recovery.img.
  7. Double click on “cmd-here” to open ADB and Fastboot command prompt.
  8. Type “adb reboot bootloader” to boot your smartphone into bootloader mode.
  9. Once you are in bootloader mode, type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img” to flash TWRP-Recovery on Pixel 2.
  10. Now type “fastboot reboot recovery” to boot into TWRP Recovery.

How to Root Pixel 2 on Android 9.0 Pie

  1. Make sure that you moved the Magisk-Root.zip file into internal storage of your smartphone.
  2. Enter the password of your Pixel 2 in TWRP Recovery to decrypt your smartphone.
  3. Tap on Install button and select the Magisk root file.
  4. Swipe to begin the rooting process.
  5. Finally reboot your smartphone normally.
